THE KING OF THAILAND'S FOCUS PULLER, 100 'RAPES' AND AN AMERICAN'S MILITARY AID

The following story has been held over for two days, but not for any other reason than the author is celebrating his birthday.

Having finished the bathing, clothing, feeding three kids, and sung 'Do you want to make a snowman' for the 100th time, and he has brought in the English baby sitter to take over.

Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible. Meanwhile thank you all for your birthday wishes.

Do they look like rabbits caught in the headlights? Second from left camera assistant to the Royal Household. and on
the right Drew Noyes, convicted of extortion in Thailand and larceny and burglary in the United States with Michael
Strouse pornographer who got BOI approval to make 'software' in Thailand designed I guess to harden men.

DREW NOYES AND HIS MAJESTY'S FOCUS PULLER

(Oh - and there's a boiler room alert in the text here too)

Posing as a philanthropist and kindly and honest businessman American Drew Walter Noyes established links with the Thai military and the Royal Palace to promote an image of being upright businessmen, while engaging in widespread financial scamming.

And it is almost beyond belief how many ‘influential people’ on the eastern seaboard of Thailand fell for his patter.

But part the fact that he was so successful can be attributed in the main to an assistant to the King of Thailand’s personal photographer who provided many of the introductions.

Pattaya based Sermsakdi Sabhananda , seen in this video below; who loved nothing better to wear a Scottish Tam O’Shanter was the assistant to Norm Pongkanjananukoon, personal photographer to Thailand’s King Bumiphol Adulyadej.

Sermsakdi and Norm were there to cover every state visit and those of visiting royals, even Queen Elizabeth II. Their contacts were wide raging and by association Sermsakdi was set up for life and he made his cash on the fringe of foreign society in the Thai report of Pattaya.

It was there that he became fixer to Drew Walter Noyes, 59, the American fraudster featured frequently on this website, who arrived in Thailand, with convictions for burglary and larceny and opened up beer bars in Pattaya.

Noyes, who is currently appealing a two year sentence in Thailand for extortion, claims he has been 17 years in the service of the King of Thailand and since the military government took over the country last year has been pushing his alleged devotion to the Royal family – even making an obsequious video to emphasis his ‘devotion’.

In fact many people are surprised he has himself not been done under  the country’s Article 112 Lèse majesté.

Thai Rath report on arrest of Noyes and anrapa Boonsu for extortion
Having been exposed in the Wilmington Star in the United States as a man of ‘myriad lies’ who had been involved in shady property and share dealing Noyes
' entry to Thailand 17 years ago was fairly low key.

According to a document which was circulated around members of the Pattaya City Expats Club he bought two bars called Lollipop and Zebra and then set about selling them to multiple foreign buyers.

When one buyer complained he ran him out of Thailand with threats of criminal libel actions.  Noyes had found his niche – and the time had come to go upmarket.

Noyes in his beer bar days
Like so many other swindlers he found he had entered the perfect  state – where fraud against foreigners was rarely investigated by the police, especially if the victim was another foreigner.

Moreover libel laws designed to protect their wealth of the rich perfectly suited is own action plan.

The only people who could stop him were foreigners who could call in a ‘person of influence’ to put an end to his shenanigans.

And  his arrangement with Sermsakdi got him contacts with a whole host of influential people, who had no idea of his notorious past – and by now present.

Noyes going upmarket at the Polo Club, with Niels Colov (right) and Harald Link (left)

His role model was Niels Martens Storm Colov, the boss of the Pattaya People Media Group, head of the foreign police volunteer assistants in Pattaya, a former Copenhagen gangster and pimp, who had re-invented himself in Pattaya as a philanthropist, and had achieved the distinction of being elected President of the Rotary Club, Pattaya-Jomtien.

Noyes set out to emulate Colov intending to push him out of his comfortable slot and then with Sermsakdi started courted the movers and shakers in Thai local politics, military, and police.

He started the ‘Pattaya Times’ newspaper, became a founding member of the Pattaya City Expats Club, and used these two roles with Sermsakdi doing the arranging.

Within a short period of time his newspaper was writing glowing reports of those in Pattaya he needed to know and free copies were given to city hall.  Pattaya according to the Pattaya Times was a paradise and Drew was soon escorting his bar girl and illiterate wife Nittaya Chaisit Noyes to local functions.

Niels Colov on the other hand was a Danish crook who beat his wife up, claimed Noyes - and the two publishers went to war in their newspapers at the end of which Noyes was forced to apologise after also stealing Colov's business directory.

Nevertheless soon Noyes was:

Hobnobbing with the Mayor Ittiphol Khunpluem, and announcing in the Pattaya Times that he was Ittiphol’s ‘international adviser’.

This was not true of course, but what the hell, the Mayor did not really read the 'Pattaya Times' but as long as the foreigner was writing glowing stories why bother.

There's Sermsakdi at the end of the table
Dining with the judges of Chonburi and Pattaya Courts and in his role as ‘an American lawyer’ arranging legal seminars at city hall for elderly foreigners.

Machielsen, back left - Sermsakdi centre - Halland back right
Organising a trip for foreigners  to an army base where all were decorated with Queen Sirikit Service Pin.

The Pattaya Mail reported:  "This service award is generally reserved for Thai nationals who have given a lifetime of service, but this year, it was felt that the foreigners and Thais at this specially arranged award ceremony were of the calibre and good merit to receive the special commendation.

The nominees were recognized as Pattaya expatriates and Thai nationals who have dedicated their lives in the service of the community and their noble efforts to bring about an understanding of the traditions and cultures of all the peoples of this world."

This was of course load of old tosh. Among those on the trip to the 21 Infantry Battalion's camp were Scott Palinkas, a native American Indian who made his money on casinos. an American airline pilot on holiday in Pattaya, Thor Halland, now in jail on extortion charges after being reported to police by Noyes, and a 14-year-old boy.

They all received a royal decoration because they had all (perhaps excepting the boy) paid Noyes between 10,000 and 20,000 baht for the day trip!.  Noyes had persuaded Palinkas to pay up 1 million baht for 12 per cent of the Pattaya Mail. He did. All he got was a bomber jacket, press card, and dodgy work visa."

Meanwhile Noyes amended his biography to include the Royal decoration, plus qualifications in sky diving and sharp shooting.

He was later to accuse Andre Machielsen of being a drugs trafficker, Palinkas of being a shyster who went with lady boys, and is last month reported Halland a member of a winning team on the British television programme University Challenge, of the extortion of a French businessman. Neither of the first two allegations were true.

Thank you cake to Sermsakdi at Pattaya Optimists

Giving influential persons free membership to an Optimists Club which he had packed with boiler room fraudsters, a child sexual abuser, and an American pornographer as founding members.

The Pattaya Optimists was short lived. Noyes never paid the dues due to Optimists International and the club's membership was suspended within a couple of months.

Strouse on the right with Noyes, Sermsakdi second left
But the founding members included boiler room operators Bob Guccone, and Paul Richard Bell, American pornographer Michael Strouse, and convicted child sexual abuser Brian Wright.  Optimists is an organisation created to help children.

(Reader warning: For the last few months Guccone has been running a boiler room scam selling Graphene Nano Technology out of vitual offices called Marble Capital Partners. Their bankers are, you've guessed it HSBC)

Printing immigration forms for the Pattaya Immigration chief. He was allowed to hire staff on tourist visas!

Guccone (left)
The fact that the Pattaya Times was a sham with readers in the hundreds rather than the 500,000 he claimed’ that he was not the international adviser to the Mayor of Pattaya, that he was not a lawyer, and that the foreigners were just his mates and or targets, was immaterial. Local Thai society had decided he must be something.  Drew Noyes had arrived.

But he first hit trouble with the Pattaya City Expats Club when he began selling members National Housing Authority homes in Keha Condominium above his pseudo law office ‘PAPPA” – now the ‘One Stop Service Center’.  There was a revolt at the PCC and Noyes was out.

The club he had formed failed to elect him to any position let alone his sole belief that he had right to be President.

Noyes, Wright and Machielsen in happier times

Bad stuff appeared about him on the net. He was a phoney and a sociopath, claimed the writers. This site also began reporting on complaints flooding in from readers,  Drew Noyes swamped the net with a false bio, and scores of recommendations and went hunting down his perceived enemies – Andre Machielsen and Briton Thor Halland.  Halland is now in custody on alleged extortion charges – something of a Noyes speciality.

Even Sermsakdi knew that Noyes was not high-society.  He knew him from his beer bar days. And he knew first-hand about his sexual extravagances.

When two young Filipinas fled the offices of the Pattaya Times having been employed illegally and then paid a fraction of their promises salaries,, with one complaining Noyes tried to rape her, Sermsakdi laughed off the matter when I met him saying: “He must have raped 100 women.”

Filipina victim. Parents had to send cash to get her home
from Thailand. She claimed Noyes locked her in a room
in keha condo

Sermsakdi made no suggestion that he violently attacked these women but that he forced them in other ways. In the United States in an investigation by journalist Scott Gold lawyer  Gary Kurtz who was seeking Noyes who had demanded oral sex from a junior employee said:“As a condition of her employment she was required to have sex with him.  She refused and he fired her. It’s pretty offensive”. (The Star - N Carolina)

Noyes also got his wife’s niece pregnant – the 14-year-old daughter of his chauffeur but according to a representative of Noyes, which may have been Noyes himself, a post appeared on the net, saying he had been more than generous with the young girl and any demands would be met with police action (against the girl and her family not him).

This matter was recently raised at a court hearing in Pattaya.

When the military took over in Thailand last year Noyes was so notorious it looked as if his reign of fraud was coming to an end. He had cheated people on widespread scale anything from getting punters to put their houses in the name of his new wife Wanrapa Boonsu; to fraudulent property deals, and fraudulent and incompetent divorces and settlement.

Mike Greene - front
He even took a school friend Michael Greene down for US$250,000. That is what Greene, a civilian weapons instructor for the US Navy and a certified reserve police officer handed over to Noyes for two grotty apartments in Keha Condo and an investment in a nightclub business that never was.  Noyes employed lawyers and only got part of him money back.

But Noyes knows if you do not live in Thailand and do not intend to live here for many years to come there is absolutely no point in taking criminal or civil action. The costs of the cases could end up more than the money sought – and in Thailand’s corrupt web there is no guarantee plaintiff’s will win a water-tight case – so many other factors are at play.

For the last year Noyes has been liquidating his assets. He has been slowly sending his children to the United States and his has property in Nevada which he acquired from an American visiting Pattaya. He also has property in the name of his ex-wife (to avoid tax) together with a power of attorney which he can use to take possession.  But when I least heard his plans was to take over his step-mother’s house in Tennessee.

Colonel (second from left) also lied in court to say
Noyes was holding seminar for the National Council
for Peace and Order
More recently in the last two years Noyes has been escorted about town by a military colonel – who saw him off to the airport to ensure had no trouble on a trip to the United States while on bail during his extortion case.  (He has been given bail again after conviction and sentence of two years).

The same officer even stood in the dock at Bangkok Criminal Court describing how Noyes was a valuable member of society who would be presenting a seminar in Pattaya helping people understand the new military government.

He never did of course.

Noyes has now left for the United States having been granted bail after being convicted and jailed for two years with Wanrapa Boonsu for extortion. He claimed on his Facebook page that he was heading to the UK to have Andrew Drummond arrested.

If he returns it will be because he knows he will be acquitted on appeal.

For Sermsaki I guess another will be along in a minute.

He was released on bail by placing 400,000 baht as deposit. On 19 February 2015, the judge advocate of the military court filed his custody at the Bangkok Military Court as the Black Case no. 45K/2558.

JUDGES SET NEW LOW IN THAI JUSTICE SYSTEM

Just when you think things cannot get worse – the Thai justice system never disappoints. Details are now coming out about the recent incarceration of Jack Hansen-Bartel – the young Australian former pupil of the New International School of Thailand – who was beaten up apparently by two young American-Chinese rich kids at the Green Mango Club on the Thai holiday island of Koh Samui.

Jack who was viciously attacked, with an ashtray allegedly by Raymond Chang and Ryan Wang who had just graduated the Shanghai American School,  had had to undergo surgery, then corrective surgery, and will continue to do so for at least another year.

His crusading mother Annie Hansen has helped him bring charges against the assailants.

The millionaire father of Raymond Chang – Raymond Nobu Chang – a graduate of the John F Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University flew in to Koh Samui last year and by all accounts told Samui police to charge Jack with something.

Samui police could not find anything more than misdemeanor or common assault (usually settled in a police station for a 1000 baht (£20) fine.

Now it appears these charges have been changed to assault and drunk and disorderly.

In any case Jack was not pleading guilty to anything. The CCTV video confirmed his story that he was perfectly behaved.

Samui police were not having it. They chose the word of the rich Chinese Americans and an officer was duly dispatched to Bangkok to caution and charge Jack.

This would have cost the prosecution ten times the penalty Jack would receive – and few people believe they stumped up themselves.

Jack and elder brother Jess with NCPO officials

In stepped the National Council for Peace and Order announcing saying they wanted to ensure transparency – and then did absolutely nothing to ensure transparency.

Raymond Nobu Chang at the court
They just disappeared into barracks again.

A full year has passed and of course none of the cases has gone anywhere, despite Thailand promising a tourist court to deal speedily with these sorts of incidents and Koh Samui court itself making public announcement to announce their own special court.

The two Americans have been allowed bail to attend their American Universities – and Jack has been stuck in Thailand, already missing one year.

Earlier this month he applied for leave to attend Monash University in Melbourne and what happened?

Ryan Wang
He was banged up without even seeing a judge of the court.  Court officials locked him out demanding bail of 40,000 Thai baht – twice the legal rate for such an offence.

He was led to the cells apparently now on charges of being drunk and disorderly past the smirks of the two Chinese American boys’ families. Mrs. Hansen-Bartel did not have 40,000 baht.

Jack was only released after a call from General Kongkiert Aiphavongs, a former head of the Thai Immigration Police – and a friend of the family, who pointed out that the bail order was against the law.

He was released reluctantly. The Chinese Americans apparently wanted to see him being detained overnight.

The case has been set to go ahead in a year’s time.

Raymond Chang Junior
It is difficult not only to be in total contempt of Koh Samui court and Koh Samui police.

What is happening here is stunningly obvious.

Jack Hansen-Bartel and his mother are being strung along by the system until they ran out of money and have to give up – and the rich kids end up in society white as snow.

It’s happening in cases all over Thailand. It happens time and time again. Whoever allows this has no conception of justice.

The judges were operating against the law – but in Thailand is it a serious offence to criticize the judges even especially if they have no conception of justice.

At the same time police have been going around the bar owners in Soi Green Mango.

There  is video after he was attacked showing him flailing in the street at people who were getting in his space while waiting to be taken away.

Leo del Pinto
Bar owners are being asked to give evidence about his bad behaviour.

This is exactly what Thai Police did in Pai, Mae Hong Son, when 23-year-old Canadian Leo del Pinto was shot dead by a policeman.  Police told bar and restaurant owners to say Leo was attacking police. Thankfully the Thai National Human Rights Commission stepped in to prove the lie.

Similarly we have exposed on this site how Thai police in Pattaya set up a British supermarket manager on a charge of trying to defraud an insurance company by making a false claim that he had been mugged - when he did not even have a holiday insurance policy.

That man was taken to court and was sent to jail without even seeing a judge.

This story which also was published in the Thai national newspapers was a complete and utter police concoction. There
was no overwhelming evidence of this man telling lies but overwhelming evidence that Pattaya Police were and in
any civilised country they would be locked up. Police said he had concocted story to claim against his insurance. The
only insurance he had was medical insurance.
Shortly Koh Samui court will try two Burmese for the murders of British tourists David Miller and Hannah Witheridge.

As usual there will be no verbatim record of evidence – and the defence have already been prevented from seeing and therefore having time to challenge just how exactly the Thai police managed the DNA evidence which they are using to obtain convictions.  God help them.

'I've got the whole world in my hands' Raymond Chang graduating the Harvard Kennedy School 2015. Good at politics,
though perhaps money politics he has managed to make two attackers victims and a victim the attacker. Addressing the
class of 2015 Britain's David Miliband former British Foreign Secretary told students: " Your mission (should you accept it)
is to commit yourselves to make the world a better place.

Said Annie Hansen, who is coming across the usual Chinese whispers:“I hoped that the Ombudsman office could assist us. Interpol advised TWICE with two different officers that they would help us. Both of them also pulled out saying a very high up general was involved.”

Koh Samui may not be the worst court in Thailand, but certainly Samui and Phuket are near the top of the agenda for massive rip-offs of both expatriates and tourists - and those rip-offs invariably involve police and the court and justice system.

As you can see Annie Hansen is strunggling to fight this case but you can help by going to this link

'DSI ARE CORRUPT' SAYS SCOT ON RACKETEERING CHARGES

DAVID HANKS ' I AM INNOCENT - DSI ARE CORRUPT'

Former Melbourne brothel keeper David Hanks, originally from Girvan in Scotland, has been remanded by Pattaya Criminal Court for judgment on August 18th for a number of offences from racketeering to working illegally.

Two Russian defendants failed to appear for trial. It’s alleged among other things that Hanks was the financier for a scheme lending cash to hapless Russians at 6 per cent a month.  Hanks was defended by Sanya Namnaphon who was listed as a partner in the firm of fake lawyer Brian Goudie, like Hanks also Scottish from Falkirk.

Goudie is currently on trial for posing as a barrister and former office in the Royal Marines to cheat an American woman, Barbara Fanelli Miller, 75 at the time out of nearly around US$240,000.

Goudie formerly used Sanya because he was cheap and cheerful and would cover cases at 5000 baht a day while Goudie charged clients 50,000 baht a day as he had been, er ,’ called to the bar’.

Needless to say the Thai Police have never caught up with this pair of charmers but the Department of Special Investigation did.

Now Goudie is representing Hanks by directing the defence – and that appears to be calling the DSI corrupt, and saying Hanks was mistaken for another foreigner called David who had a totally different address.

Hanks, lawyer (not Sanya) Goudie

The Russians co-defendants have returned to their motherland leaving Hanks holding the baby.

Goudie appears confident of Hanks acquittal and states

“Hanks' lawyers asked the Court to investigate why information about the case had been leaked to the Press, and why he had been wrongfully linked to a fourth Russian Man, Alexander Matsov, and an infamous Russian Mafia figure who was not involved in the case at all.”

Hanks entertaining a Russian to a beach barbecue at Bang Kao Bar, Samui, I do not think the Russian bought into
Goudie's plan to sell the beach

The judge however did not record this exchange which in any case should have been directed to the DSI, but it was not a strong legal point.

Drew Noyes with David Hanks
He appears to be going very much more on this.

“One particular police officer was unable to explain why Hanks had been arrested when 16 Russian witnesses had failed to identify him, but had instead identified a 'David' who had a different address, and was at least 20 years Hanks' junior.
And this.

"A high ranking DSI officer, who has already been transferred amid allegations of corruption, was named as being at the centre of the proposed illegal money lending and protection scam."

That is indeed an original defence.  A bit like being arrested for rape and telling the court the police were the rapists.

Goudie is reported to have borrowed a considerable amount of money off Hanks. I am not sure how sad he will be if Hanks is sent down.

I say if because predicting what will happen in the Thai courts by looking at the evidence simply does not work.

BRITON WHO LOST BUSINESSES AND HOME WORTH £2 MILLION TO THAI ORGANISED CRIME – JOINS GROWING FOREIGN PROTEST

THAI BANKS COLLUDING IN SCAMS ON FOREIGNERS

Ian Rance and family

A British businessman who lost everything to organized crime on the holiday island of Phuket is joining the protest of foreigners who have been taken to the cleaners in Thailand.

Ian Rance, 57, from Hertfordshire, lost everything in a scam identical to that of Irish businessman Colin Vard whose daughter Jessie waged a Youtube campaign against corruption.

In Ian Rance’s case his wife teamed up with a bent, lawyer, money lenders, and the Kasikorn Bank to sell off all his assets. In Colin Vard’s case it was his housekeeper with whom he had had a relationship in the past who initially took the property.

In both cases the lawyers and judges were the same. And in both cases the culprits could not have got away with it without the assistance of the courts. In both cases signatures were forged.

In both cases the women actually gained very little and were caught and jailed. But those who facilitated the crime and really cashed in escaped any prosecution and nothing was ever returned.

Rance’s son Ty has also appealed for justice on YouTube while the family consider a more public protest.

His harrowing story can be found here. Ian was a property Chartered Arbitrator back in the UK which makes the story all the more galling.

(Incidentally what normally happens in these cases is that the moneylenders will counter-sue and get their cases accepted by the Thai courts sometimes without the defendant knowing. The defendants will then find their visa cancelled and they are put on court visas - and then its whole new ball game. See Ty's video below:

Jessie Vard

Colin Vard, from Dublin, his daughter Jessie, 16, and son Daire, 13, were given promises by Thailand’s Police chief that their case would be fully investigated.

It appears that even though they have publicly thanked the police and expressed confidence in the investigation they are not going to stop the protest.

Another is planned against the Krung Thai Bank, which they say co-operated in the scam.

Jessie writes:

“Tomorrow (Tuesday) at 13.30 we will return to Sukhumvit Road to the bank that stole our family home and destroyed our lives.

We have nothing now. Homeless and depending on handouts. So we have nothing to lose.
At the last meeting in front of B.B.C. television cameras we were laughed at and lied to by the bank's senior management.

It was terrible how they tried to annoy and scare us. Bullies that is all they are. No better than street fighting thugs.
The only difference being they were wearing suits, shirts and ties. They ordered their security guards to follow us around with video cameras and over 10 armed policemen to intimidate and arrest us.
The Bank's management said that they know nothing about our case. Lies flow freely from liars and cheats but a clicking clock and the Buddha will catch up with them.
The bank will also learn that we will not be silenced!

The bank's manager in Phuket stole our family home. A fact recognised by both the criminal and civil courts but not the bank who rewarded their thieving manager by retiring him on a pension?
So by taking no action the bank is openly supporting his criminal activities which means that the banks chief executive is liable to 3 times the sentence the bank manager will receive because he is complicit in the crime of money laundering.
Is he even aware that his bank has broken over 102 anti money laundering clauses and sub clauses? Do the Banks shareholders and customers know? Does AMLO know? I guess not?  They will know today for sure.
All we are asking is that the bank punish those who are guilty not us. We have no money and nowhere to live.  But we will live in the shadow of the bank until they return our home and compensate us. They stole our home and livlihood and destroyed 5 years of our young lives.
If you are on Sukhumvit tomorrow at around 1.30pm please drop in to see us. If the bank do not do what is right and proper we will stay outside the bank until the whole world is aware of the crime that they openly support.
We do this for everybody not just ourselves. Those who control society must be made aware that young people have a voice that must be heard. Together we can fight and beat the cancer of corruption.

Footnote:

Thai banks are invariably involved in these sorts of deals.

Readers of this site may recall how British crook Richard Haughton, of Thai Property and Media Exhibition Co, hawked off off Emerald Palace condominium in Pattaya to the Kasikorn Bank, having already sold most of the units.

One buyer from Northern Ireland went to move into his condo only to discover is was being occupied by the mistress of a Kasikorn Bank, Deputy President.

All property owners who approached this site have now had judgments ordering the land titles to be given to them through lawyers and Kanokrat Nimsamoot Booth, a friend and researcher.

Limcharoen, the legal company, which took over the property told buyers they would not get the chanotes and unless they helped pay off Haughton’s bank loan.

SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO TAKE A BREAK

I had a complaint last week from a reader who said that stories here were not coming fast and furious enough. He suggested I was getting lazy and urged me to get on to the case.

He is from the north of England and seemingly does not understand ‘The Season’.

Last week was of course Ascot Week and the reader complained on Ladies Day!

This really is not cricket.  Ascot was an important week in my calendar. I used to live in a house called ‘Five Furlongs’ on the old course by the Golden Gate.

As I am now back within easy commuting distance it would be dashed boring if I did not attend.  But no sign of Drew Noyes, not even in the Royal Enclosure;  but then I’m not sure if divorced persons are still banned.  I was at the bandstand listening to the Scots Guards.

Drew Noyes
Perhaps I might see Drew at Wimbledon over the next fortnight. I mean he was accepted for a while at the Polo Club of Thailand – er, until he was ejected.

I do not have tickets for Centre Court – but I do have a parking spot at a friend’s place less than 100 yards from the front gate – which is worth even more.

The last time I was at Wimbledon was to meet up again with Evonne Goolagong who the previous week at a hotel breakfast on the south coast had told me she was about to announce her engagement to some chap called Cawley.
Evonne

This of course was heavily played at the Daily Mail whose shillings I took before realizing the News of the World had better ethics - long since lost.

After Wimbledon of course comes Henley Regatta week. This was an event I covered for the farmers’ newspaper the Berkshire Mercury which employed me in my first journalist job at the starting salary of a princely seven guineas a week.

My brother is going. He's on a private launch, owned or hired by a friend of his. I hinted. He looked at my kids. Yep. These guys are terrors. God knows what they'll get up to on Bucks Fizz.

My father, a pilot, had relocated to Sonning on Thames, or rather Playhatch, a few miles down the road just north of Reading, so that stopped me begging.

Ah memories and the sun is shining – and later I can take the kids to Henley – but I am not sure if my Berkshire Mercury car sticker will still work. It’s been through the wars a bit.

Do not be disabused into thinking how that there are no startling revelations coming on this site.

– There are.

My lines have been ringing red hot all week from south East Asia.

It’s just been a bit difficult to deal with them all while stuffing myself with scones with Devon clotted cream.

More reports of deaths of Bangkok boiler room bosses coming, also reports of fake deaths,

* The Flying Sporran is of course technically not an English gentleman but of  course Scottish. But just as the Scottish earls traditionally kept pads in London and attended society events so too was the Sporran by circumstance forced to accept this annual round of jollies as part of his social diary. Regretfully he will not be carrying on his season in Nice or Monte Carlo.

There appears to be a growing protest on the internet at the hosting of a conference for ‘One Young World’ in Bangkok later this year.

One Young World of course is a group of youngsters or youth ambassadors who hopefully are going to put the world to rights.

'Let's change the world' - Petchchompoo
Among the things they campaign for, ahem, is freedom of speech, something Thailand does not have at the moment, which is for the common good says the PM General Prayuth Chan-ocha..

One Young World founded in the UK includes amongst its counsellors Bob Geldorf, Boris Becker, Sir Richard Branson, Sol Campbell, Roger Federer, Jamie Oliver, and Mary Robinson, as well as world business figures and politicians.

A statement from them insists:

“Taking One Young World to Asia is a natural step after having hosted previous summits in Europe, North America and Africa.
One Young World is defined by its unswerving commitment to free speech; to providing the world’s youth with a platform to share and challenge the status quo without fear of censorship or oppression. This remains unchanged by our decision to take the Summit to Bangkok.
Our choice of host city is not to be interpreted as a political statement and we will do everything in our power to ensure the full representation for Thailand’s youth.”

Not surprisingly a lot of people are not quite accepting that statement and feel the conference should have been cancelled.

Among the counsellors listed to come to Bangkok are executives from Unilever and Siemens, and former Sinn Fein member and former IRA prisoner Sean Murray – who was named by the Sunday Times as officer commanding the Northern Sector of the IRA.  He is not liable to be a military junta sort of guy.

Delegates at the last One Young World conference last year in Dublin were treated to a speech by Phetchompoo Kijburana, who made no secret that she supported the PRDC – even turning up and giving speeches to ‘100,000 people’.

She said she joined the protest because the Shinawatras were trying to legalise corruption with the Amnesty Bill. True.

Having been educated at a private school in Oxford and now a student of political science at Durham University, Phetchompoo Kijburana is obviously from the more privileged classes of Thailand, which supported the protests and she asked the audience to understand why the military had to take over.

Since her speech the military have come down harder of course bringing numerous lese majeste charges and arresting students, throwing poor people off their traditionsl land as well requiring a change of attitude by many Thai citizens.

She says she wants to eradicate corruption, and describes the demos in 2013-14 as ‘the biggest uprising’ in ever seen in Thailand before.

Perhaps (moi aussi) she should have been more circumspect. She mentioned the 28 killed during the demos but did not mention the deaths of red shirts, not to mention the students killed by the Royal Thai Army in all the other ‘biggest uprisings’.

Having given up on its promise to reform the Thai Police, whose many claims to infamy include handling the stolen property, including the Blue Diamond, of the Saudi Royal family, it does not look like the army is going to reform itself.

And the two other major areas in most need of reform, the justice system and education have barely been touched, which is why many people now feel that this coup, as with all others, will serve mainly to enrich those in power.

The problem is that while people like Petchchompoo (Pink Diamond) can offer noble sentiments, and make the PDRC appear to a western audience to be the voice of the people, it’s very often their fathers and mothers who are most benefiting from corruption – (but I am not saying this personally in Petchchampoo’s case)

The meeting is not scheduled until the end of the year and a lot can happen before then.
Pearly

What with the military being implicated in appalling human trafficking violations and continuing to hold military courts, and arresting people for voicing an opinion with a wrong attitude, it could turn out interesting.

“We are ready to host this event to change the world for the better,” said Petchchompoo optimistically.

The Bangkok Advisory Board of One Young World is a mish mash of privileged members of Thai society and includes for instance Sek Wanathamee, Foreign Ministry Press spokesman and the chairman of the executive committee of Siam Commercial Bank.

The Asia Director of One Young World is ‘Pearly’ Laksameekan Ingakul, daughter of the owner of the Miracle Hotel group,

And she is full of praise for Suthep Thaugsuban, who led the protest, and is not unknown for corruption himself.

(The Miracle Group runs hotels and has the concession for the Louis Taverns as Bangkok International airport)

Toe curling Pearly's wedding to Platu - Ditawat Issara at Cape Panwa

Pearly is something of a socialite who can be seen at all the right dos. At Cape Panwa in Phuket she married Ditawat Issara - nicknamed Platu - Assistant Managing Director of Sales and Marketing and Assistant Managing Director of Business Development, Charn Issara Development Public Company Limited. I believe that one's in the family. The picture above is a publicity picture for the event.  God these people are suffering.

She promises.

“During the Summit we have planned for you to indulge in the most exquisite and authentic of Thai foods from all across the nation and the opening ceremony that we have planned is in a word, breathtaking. Imagine cruising along Bangkok's main river with an explosion of Thai culture for you to witness.”

How nice. And yes I certainly can. But I am sure she has time to come and finish the season here first,

THAI MILITARY MOVE IN ON FOREIGN PROPERTY FRAUDSTER –

HIGH NOON IN HUA HIN AS DUTCHMAN ORDERED TO HAND OVER PROPERTY DEEDS

Confrontation at Avalon-Khao Noi
The Thai military have moved in on Dutchman Dingeman Hendrikse, known as Dinky, who has been terrorizing elderly home buyers in the resort of Hua Hun, 100 miles south of Bangkok for over ten years.

Hendrikse’s activities were exposed on this site in an investigation published in August and September 2010.

His blatant property frauds were supported by local officials.

He had employed Jason Coghlan, brother of British gangland figure Arran Coghlan ‘The Teflon Don’ to keep residents of the Avalon Housing complex in Hua Hin under control.  Some 100 plus house have been sold by Hendrikse, who has yet to hand over their property deeds.

It is feared that Hendrikse may have used the deeds to raise further loans. But he himself has been loaning money recently to another property fraudster Alan McDonald and is having trouble having it back.

Yesterday Dinkie and his wife were summoned by the army to the Amphur in Hua Hin. Reports say that he has been given two weeks to hand over the deeds.

Jason Coghlan - terrorised residents with a gun which he says was provided by Thai police

The matter appears to have been taken out of police hands. Police had done nothing about numerous complaints for years.

Nobody has been able to sell their property except back to Dingeman who offers 1/3 of what they bought it for.

Jason Coghlan was given a house at the entrance to the Avalon estate in Hua Hin, now known as Khao Soi - and from there he was able to see people come and go.

His job was to shut up all complainants which Coghlan claimed he did quite successfully. However Coghlan like Dinkie even less and told him where he could put his job.

He later moved to Spain where he set up Jacog Law offering legal advice to the British criminal fraternity.

The original investigation
Footnote: It appears Hendrikse has been on an army general's hit list for years. The local army has watched the police do nothing but now they are in control they could be free to act. That is one benefit of the current government. The Thaksin regime was heavily supported by police who in turn benefited by blind eyes being turned as they profited from these sort of scams. But at this stage there has been no suggestion that the actual military government is involved. Local generals tend to act unilaterally. There are claims that the 'other side' has its own general too. There seems to be quite a bit of score settling going on which is not making the Thai English language media at least.

THAILAND'S POSSIBLY MOST DECORATED FOREIGNER TAKES NEW THAI BRIDE UP THE AISLE

(Flying Sporran's Midweek Social Diary)

Wow! When it rains it pours. Having just congratulated Colin de Jong on being tracked down in Pattaya by the daughter he was parted from many years ago – it seems I have to congratulate Niels Colov, the well-known Danish enforcer who for many years has been quite aptly it seems head of the Pattaya Police Volunteers.

Colov, a prominent figure in the 70’s Copenhagen’s red light area of Vesterbro were he was jailed for coercion, pimping, and a few other things, is apparently getting married to a woman called Pooky.  This slipped into my email.

WEDDING OF POOKY & NIELS

We are happy to announce that the glamorous Wedding Reception of Patsanun "Pooky" Rodma and Niels Colov will take place on FRIDAY 28. AUGUST 2015 at 18.00 pm at Town-in-Town Hotel on Pattaya Central Road in Pattaya City. All friends of the married couple and the 'Pattaya People Media Group' are cordially invited to attend the Wedding Reception.
We expect more than 1,000 people in attendance, to enjoy great food and fantastic entertainment, have their photo taken with the married couple and wishing Pooky and Niels all the best in their married life.
People from all over the world have announced their attendance and it will indeed be a "who-is-who" in Pattaya gathering. Efforts are in the process to make this the wedding of the year in Pattaya.Wedding of the year!

1000 people from all over the world? Wow. Wonder if any of the old mob are coming from Copenhagen.

Its seems also that Niels Storm Martens Colov is leaving Pattaya and relocating an hour down the road to Rayong.  There’s lots of burley oil men down there I am told.

Niels having a laugh with buddies in Vesterbro, Copenhagen in the old days

Last year at his 65th Birthday Celebrations – also in the Town-in-Town - guest of honour was General Saiyud Kerdphol, former Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces.(1981-1983) who lives in the area. Kerdphol is author of ‘The Meaning of National Security’ and supporter of Privy Councillor Prem  Tinsulanonda.

With on the left Danish career criminals Lonne Fristrup Jensen and Leon Owild

So this may spell an end of an era of the reformed pimp who became a police star, President of the Rotary Club, Knight of Rizal, Police assistants chief  – not to mention a recipient of the fake Unesco Cross and fincally being blessed by the Pope.

With 'violent' Bandido Brian Sandberg and Pooky

As leader of the Pattaya Police Foreign Volunteer Assistants

Receiving the UNESCO Cross - which does not exist - in a grand ceremony in a Bangkok hotel

And finally below - Knight of Rizal.

This is all so hard to take in - but reports from Rayong has had him visiting the area several times recently.

As with Colin de Jong – an Elvis impersonator – I feel obliged to close this on a musical note. If you loved  Colin de Jong you're going to love this. Spot Niels slipping in at 3' 15 secs.

NOT A LOT IT SEEMS

Three programmes have crashed over the last month at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand – or rather they have been cancelled at the orders of the current Thai military government.

The latest a few hours ago was to have been a presentation by Human Rights Watch on the ill-treatment of the Montagnards of Vietnam and the persecution of people for their religious beliefs.

This is the FCCT statement:

” The Foreign Correspondents' Club of Thailand (FCCT) received a written order from the Royal Thai Police at 10.34am on Friday 26 June, issued on behalf of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), to cancel a press conference by US-based Human Rights Watch (HRW) for the release of its new report "Persecuting "Evil Way" Religion: Abuses against Montagnards in Vietnam."
The FCCT complied with the written request, which was also sent to HRW.
The HRW press conference was not an FCCT programme, but one of numerous outside bookings of the club premises each month that are accepted as a service to the international media based in Thailand, local media, the club's membership, the diplomatic and business communities, students and others.
From the perspective of the FCCT, it was a routine press event and part of any normally functioning media environment.
HRW has issued numerous reports at the FCCT in the past, including one the previous night on the plight of the Moken minority in Myanmar and Thailand. The release of reports with no particular connection to Thailand, such as the one on the Vietnam's Montagnards cancelled today, reflects the significant foreign media presence in Thailand covering Southeast Asia, nothing more.
The situation of the Montagnards in Vietnam is a subject of legitimate international public interest. The report has been released on the HRW website.”

The other cancelled events were a discussion on Lèse majesté, and a planned presentation by the Thai Lawyers for Human Rights, which was critical of the government.

The reason the Thai Police, who were carrying out government orders, wanted the programme stopped, was that it  “could have an impact on the country’s security or could affect the friendship and cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam”.

‘More than a dozen plainclothes and uniformed police officers were waiting outside the club, along with a police truck parked nearby
’, the Guardian reported online.

This could confuse people in Thailand who are being told that their country is free providing people do not anything to upset public order.

There has to be some soul searching going on at the FCCT which is a shadow of its former self since a mass exodus of foreign correspondents created by the IT revolution.

There are people who may believe that the FCCT should have put up a stand. But that seems a bit like asking the committee ‘Who is going to jail first?’. I am sure the President believes that his commitment to report for the BBC takes precedence.

And the club is a business. It has to make money. It makes cash from such events and programmes it puts on itself. Either way it loses. And nobody is going to fall on his sword.

When things like this happen in Thailand there is however an understandable ‘who the fuck is Alice’ vibe coming from the international media, with the exception of publications like the Guardian.

The more Thailand drags itself back into the past the more it is regarded as a curious backwater, known for its beaches, sex tourism, feral attitude to public safety and justice, hospitality, crimes against tourists, Full Moon parties, and  from where  the fragrant Tingtong Macadangdang hails.

Nevertheless being blocked or banned by the Thai government, and, albeit reluctantly by the FCCT, still does have its attraction, Organisations a bit short of publicity should be queuing up to present an evening at the FCCT with something in the title of their report which will irritate the Thai military.

With the military led government stopping a programme critical of Vietnam that should not be so hard.

A talk by Drew Noyes on 'My 17 years in service of His Majesty the King' should be quite okay though.

Already the Hanoi Press Club and Foreign Correspondents Club in Phnom Penh are primarily business ventures with very little do to with the international media, perhaps its time the FCCT join them.

The 'Safari Bar' where a lot of journalists, and diplomats even, turned up to meet when I first arrived in Thailand is not however nowadays a serious venue.

Computers -yes, just . But it was easier to puck up the phone reverse the
charges to London  talk down the phone and let somebody else do the editing/
Wow. Today I was watching Lionel Richie perform at Glastonbury which would take me an hour and a half to reach if I left now. It does not seem to long ago since the last time I saw him live, but actually it’s a staggering 31 years!

The occasion was the closing of the 1986 Olympics in Los Angeles. Also turning up at Glastonbury was the Dalai Lama – who appeared before an audience of 120,000 – a sight more than those present at the FCCT in Bangkok when he appeared there.

Tempus fugit, and how.

Also at LA for the Olympics was Neil Wallis, then billed by the Daily Star as the ‘World’s Greatest Living Reporter’ – currently still on trial in relation to phone hacking (He was Exec Editor of the News of the World) and Hugh Whittow, from ‘the valleys’ who is currently editor of the Daily Express having played a major role in the ‘Blackie the Donkey’ rescue on the way.

This was of course before the internet – but I had a computer which was a Tandy why allowed you to read five lines at a time and transmit by sticking a phone into two suction caps. But Hugh must have started one of the world’s first computer dating services – by using the Olympics messaging system
I of course took my leave from News International – now News UK – during the strike against Rupert Murdoch in 1986.

I saw the writing on the wall, as many people of course did, but it was easier for me to give up a healthy salary than those who had wives or children to support besides by this time I was making television programmes.

The Olympics was of course one great big party. I arrived early I seem to recall and was diverted to cover the San Ysidro Massacre at a McDonalds’ restaurant outside San Diego. For which I booked into the legendary Coronado Hotel (Some Like it Hot).

Ah memories. I wonder how Mary-Anne is doing now.

Can’t think why she put up with that awful moustache though.

CAUGHT TRYING TO GET FILES BACK FROM LAWYER - VARD IS CARTED OFF BY POLICE.

The controversy over Jessie Vard, the young Irish girl who has been exposing Thai corruption on the internet after her dad was robbed of seven houses in Phuket, came to blows yesterday in a lawyer’s office in Bangkok.

Former Dublin businessman Colin Vard, a cousin of the Vard Sisters, had returned to the lawyer’s office to pick up his files.

He had already publicly accused the lawyer of fraud – and Thailand’s Police Commissioner promised to take action – and complete the investigation within two months.

Colin Vard ended up getting arrested.

Anyone buoyed by the police support for the Vards last month when they blocked traffic outside the Royal Thai Police headquarters’ in Bangkok will need to watch this closely.

Police promised support, to provide safe accommodation for the family and protect them, and arrest any culprits guilty of fraud.  The same sort of situation has been happening to foreigners all over Thailand and embassies cannot/will not help.

This is the text from Jessie today:

This happened to Dad yesterday afternoon the 30-06-15 in the offices of his former Lawyer in Bangkok. This is the same lawyer Dad reported to the police, witness protection and the Ministry of Justice for previously threatening to kill Dad. He attempted to kill Dad or certainly injure him very badly yesterday.
On the instructions of the Ministry of Justice rights and liberties Dad went to the lawyer’s office to get back important files and evidence the lawyer has refused to return to us after being dismissed by the Ministry of Justice rights and liberties last year for acting outside the Lawyer’s Council regulations.
Dad has reported the fact that the lawyer has refused to return his files to the Ministry of Justice Rights and Liberties more than 9 times in past 18 months.
When Dad entered the lawyer's office and requested his files the lawyer jumped up from behind his desk, told him he would kill him and attacked Dad with a screwdriver and heavy steel paper punch.
Dad held him off but the lawyer scraped his arm twice with the screw driver. As Dad took the photograph of the screwdriver the lawyer said he knew where we lived and "Die Foreigner"
The lawyer then locked the office door and proceeded to punch and kick Dad as he tried to leave. Dad has most of this on video and he also has included a photo of the screwdriver.
The lawyer knowing he was in a lot of trouble called the police and filed a report stating that Dad had entered his office uninvited....
Dad was taken into custody on the street which he said was humiliating and taken to Prachachuen police station in a police car where he was shouted at and goaded by the investigating police, the lawyer and his wife…. Dad asked for a translator and was refused. Dad of course denied all the charges and offered video evidence. The police were very rude and racist.
This lawyer should be immediately arrested and his office dusted for fingerprints and check if he has CCTV and his phone and the phones of his wife and staff confiscated as evidence? Dad did nothing only ask for his files to be returned.

This by the law of the land is attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, common assault and false imprisonment.

This is the lawyer who took bribes from Phuket moneylenders in order that we lose all our cases and is under investigation by the Royal Thai Police in Bangkok and Phuket on 7 charges of corruption.
Dad of course filed a report in the local hospital where the doctor noted his injuries.

This lawyer is aware that he will be going to jail for 10 or 15 years and will I believe try to have Dad murdered. He knows where we stay. And said so yesterday.
This man represents all that is bad in the Thai legal system and we shall not rest until he is in leg irons and a prison jump suit.

Colin Vard discusses his problems with police dream team
He is a disgrace to the good people of Thailand.
We will keep going. Of course all of the above has been reported to the R.T.P and our Embassy.
Please share everybody. As we said in our last post we have almost run out of money but will keep going and try to make a difference.

PATTAYA COURT ACCEPTS CASE AGAINST A BRAZILIAN BASED BRIT OILMAN BY SENDING SUMMONS TO HOTEL HE HAS NEVER BEEN TO IN THAILAND

Two weeks ago we posed the question asking whether Koh Samui court could be the worst court in Thailand.

Well naturally we thought there might be a few other contenders for that title – and sure enough Pattaya Court, which has sent people to jail without even seeing them, is now right up there in the running.

The court has now accepted a case of computer crime libel and criminal libel against oilman Ally Cooper by sending a summons to the Pullman Hotel in Khon Kaen,  north eastern Thailand, which the court said was accepted.  Ally works in Rio de Janeiro.

He might as well be sued in a court in Bamako the capital of Mali after a writ was issued to him in a hotel in Timbuktu – and then finding himself convicted without even knowing it.

But actually in this case while the writ may have been issued it was not even delivered.  How do I know? Because the hotel manager remembers the event and emphatically refused it!

A spokesman for the hotel said quite specifically: “We remember the occasion when somebody tried to deliver a court writ. The member of staff refused to accept it. Not only was Mr. Cooper not staying at our hotel, but it is not our police to accept writs on behalf of guests.”

They have written a letter to confirm this.

But surprise surprise – Pattaya Court say the writ was accepted – and ordered the case to go ahead.
No wonder the Thai justice system is a laughing stock. There appears to be no conception of justice or deference to honesty.

What case was it?  Ally Cooper is accused of sharing on Facebook a story from this site about Drew Noyes, a man convicted of burglary and larceny in the United States, and of extortion by the Pattaya Courts but who appears to be the darling of the Pattaya Court. Or is he the darling of some corrupt official?

The story itself is at this link . I merely reported on the fact that Drew Noyes was suing the internet forum SubZeroSiam for using him in photo shopped into photographs in a gay parade together with Brian Goudie. Both these characters had claimed to be lawyers operating in Thailand, Goudie had even claimed to be a barrister and a former officer in the Royal Marines.

Noyes dining with judges in Pattaya

Drew Noyes is not suing over the story, which included references to them both being  ‘con men, crooks and liars ‘ but over the use of the pictures of him and Goudie which Noyes claims had grossly libeled him by suggesting he was gay. Even if we suggested he was – it’s hardly a libel.

Noyes (second row peering over woman's shoulder) with judges and court staff of Pattaya Court on National Law Day!

But the story stated categorically under the picture:‘we are more than happy to confirm the fact that Mr. Noyes indeed prefers woman, although the affection is not always reciprocated, and that he has a love hate relationship with many.
His common law wife Wanrapa Boonsu has even conceded last month that he has ‘four mia nois’.
“In fact Noyes has children by two women in the United States and at least three women in Thailand, plus at least one care order. His current major mia noi is Nam from the Buffalo Bar whom a year ago he took to the United States.

Fake claim by Noyes that he was a lawyer

“The restraining orders in California and North Carolina, plus the assault complaints made by women in North Carolina can be used by Noyes in testimony, not forgetting the woman in California who claimed she was fired for refusing to give him oral sex, as reported by the Wilmington Morning Star. Noyes did not hang around to contest the case.

And from the Pattaya Times claiming he was writing a law book with the Chief Judge of Chonburi which would
include Andrew Drummond and his libelous acts. Judge Visit appears to know nothing about it.

“We are also happy to report that Brian Goudie is also a hot blooded male.” (Noyes did not sue over this either).

And what did Ally Cooper to. He shared it on Facebook!

Ally Cooper - wants to fly in from Rio
I am the first defendant in this case. I did not get a writ either. Despite at the time having my address registered with the immigration department, the Thai Government Public Relations Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uncle Tom Cobley and all. Drew Noyes still apparently could not find it. And that’s something to take into account if one uses his pseudo law firm ‘One Stop Service Center’ in Pattaya.

We all know Noyes is not gay. We know he likes very young females. I was of course lampooning this couple of fake lawyers as people with little substance; ie all fur coat and no knickers; all mouth and no trousers etc. The picture is no different to many found on the cover of ‘Private Eye’

The same Pattaya judge issued a ‘public summons’ which means it gets published in some Thai magazine I would never read – and when I do not turn up Noyes also hopes to get a conviction.

In Britain of course, upon which Thai criminal laws are based, there is no such thing as criminal libel. And if you take a libel suit you had better be sure that you do actually have a good character which you can claim has been destroyed.

Neither Noyes nor Goudie would get past their first solicitor who would no doubt advise them they would stand to lose tens of thousands.

Thailand though has a presumption of guilt and judges you cannot criticize for plainly obvious reasons.

A NICE DES RES FOR AN UNREGISTERED FINANCIAL ADVISER

INVESTOR ALERT – REGISTERED OR NOT DON’T GO WITH THAI BASED FINANCIAL ADVISERS

Malada -  an artists impression
The Thai Securities Exchange Commission has put up on its website investor alerts naming a number of foreign financial advisory firms which have not been registered in Thailand. They include several exposed on this site.

A reader informed me today that PFM International is still trading in Chiang Mai and Alan Hall seems to be active through his understudy in Thailand.

Here are the current details.

Name: PFM International Limited
Address: 1/3 Malada Home and Resort, Moo.5 T.Nong-Kwai A.Hangdong
Chiang Mai, 50230, Thailand
Telephone: 0066 53343 779
E-Mail Address: alan.ukepp@gmail.com

Readers should however know, if they do not suspect already, that going on a Thai SEC ‘investor alert’ list is only the Thai SEC saying: ‘Here’s a bunch of cowboys whom we have received complaints about but we are not going to bother investigate. Take it or leave it.”

So even if a firm is registered with the SEC and you are stitched up do not expect any action. MBMG is still there and Platinum Financial Services – you only have to peruse this site to find what they have been up to.

Alan Hall appears to be masterminding his operations out of Lomeshaye business park in Nelson, Lancs.

His deputy Steve Prouse said Hall would be back as soon as his doctor said he was well enough to do so. The attractions of Lancashire may not knock the spots off Chiang Mai - but the natives are more friendly.

By the way the reader was given PFM’s latest address by Friends Provident.

Now Friends Provident, Royal London 380 , Old Mutual (Skandia), Generali, etc. are the people who approved funds which dodgy IFAs sold to thousands of expatriates throughout Asian bring many to their knees when the funds collapsed – such as in the LM Managed Performance Fund.

Lomeshaye -

The IFAs blamed people like Friends Provident. People like Friends Provident blamed the IFAs. They still seem to happily co-exist.  Do you think there is a pattern here?

Shome Mishtake Surely? - Drunk Bangkok Cop Caught on Smartphone

$

Having seen quite a few drunken policemen in Thailand I could not avoid submitting this video picked up today by a Thai newspaper of a drunk cop stopping a motorist in Bangkok.

The cop admits being drunk ‘a little bit’.

Motorist: "You're a police officer. You're on duty! Are you drunk?"

Cop: "Mao nid noi!"

Motorist: "Drunk on duty? Oh, the cars are totally gonna run over you to death!"

The cop takes a swipe at the motorist’s mobile phone – and later wanders off as the motorist remarks: ‘Drunkard’ (khi mao).

Once on a train from Bangkok to Had Yai a large drunken cop joined me in the restaurant car, as they do. You know. ‘Hello foreigner, do you like Thailand? Do you like Thai women, blah’.

At one stage he got angry with another passenger, Thai, who was not showing respect and took out his gun and shot through the roof.  I made my excuses and left.

On another occasion I was stopped by a cop driving my ex-British Embassy (Drugs Liaison )Rover in Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok,  I had done an unauthorized U-turn at Asoke.

The cop got off his bike, then fell over it. After the conversation during which I refused to pay his cash demand, because he was drunk, he went back to his bike tried to kickl start it and fell over again.

Mind you I think I may have had a Famous Grouse myself.

KOH TAO MURDER TRIAL TO START TODAY

THAI JUSTICE ON TRIAL

The trial over the controversial  murders of British backpackers Hannah Witheridge and David Miller is to start in a few hours time on the Thai holiday island of Koh Samui.

But first the judges will have to rule whether the defence will be allowed to examine DNA evidence and the method by which is was gathered and handled.

What the judges decide may set the tone for the trial. Many people, including Thais, believe that the two young Burmese are innocent and that the DNA evidence, which the police claims proves their guilt, may have been introduced to the crime scene artificially.

Thai justice is on trial at an island court which has a certain notoriety for controversial findings.

As the two young Burmese Zaw Lin and Wai Po are brought to the court the media have also yet to learn whether they can take notes in the court  or what other restrictions may be placed.

Judges at the trial which will sit in six three day sessions may rule that no notes are taken. They could even ban all reporting, at least in Thailand, of evidence in the case until the trial is concluded.

This is quite normal in Thai courts, while British law requires that if the reports are to gain privilege the reports must be fair, accurate and contemporaneous.

n Thai courts however there is no verbatim record. Instead the judges summarise the evidence, speak it into a tape, and the tape is transcribed by the court clerk.

At the end of each witness testimony, the defence and prosecution lawyers, defendants, interpereters etc all have to sign the judge’s version of the evidence.  The system is open to massive abuse.

For a full briefing on the case go to this link.

The case is controversial because there is a vast swath of public opinion which says that the two young Burmese migrant works are ‘scapegoats’ for influential people on the island.
